a flying fish for woo
In early December, 2012, a group of Tampa Bay artists payed tribute to their recently departed beloved friend and fellow artist, Bill Correira Woo, painter of fish. Led by artist / organizer Derek Donnelly, we collaborated on a public mural called “WooMorial” in his honor. This time-lapse video captures the making of that mural, with a focus on my contribution, "A Flying Fish For Woo", accompanied by my original song, “Woo”.
And stroke by stroke
creating a new world
The deeper you go
The higher you fly
You faced down your demons
Head on with a smile
Too soon you would leave us
Just here for a while
(What a guy)
Woo
Woo
Woo
We miss you
Woo
Woo
Woo
Has gone home
Woo
Woo
Woo
We love you
Woo
(Lyrics)
A man can dream
as deep as the ocean
In darkest reaches
finds a place
Where he can share
his inspiration
And welcomes all
with humor and grace
Obeying your wishes
Way down in the blue
Sea creatures and fishes
All whispering Woo
(Wouldn't you?)
Woo
Woo
Woo
Where are you
Woo
Woo
Woo
Don't leave us alone
The artist paints
true colors with passion
in deepest blue
and brightest white
